Usually the major TV event on Labor Day is the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, but this past Labor Day saw Hurricane Gustav coverage sharing the top spot with the Telethon. Throughout the day, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News constantly showed footage of Gustav pounding Louisiana, and they kept reiterating the fact that this storm was going to cause a huge amount of destruction. After seeing what Katrina did 3 years ago, no one wanted to take a chance with Gustav, and thus, nearly 2 million people evacuated over the weekend. They filled their cars with as many personal belongings as they could, and wondered if they would have a home after Gustav tore through their area. The question is, did Gustav live up to the hype?
