English group The Go! Team has a lot of members in their band, but only two of them are the faces of the operation: Ian, the wizard mastermind behind the music, and Ninja, the raucous front woman who raps and chants over the boisterous instrumentals. The six-piece collective, in which each member takes turns on different instruments (sometimes there are two drummers going at it at the same time), comes together in a wall of noise that coalesces into infectious party jams with a touch of '80s rap and some psychedelic flair thrown into the mix. Their two albums Thunder, Lightning, Strike and Proof of Youth garnered international acclaim for its old sound in a modern context, making the group a festival staple guaranteed to deliver a roaring performance.
Backstage at Lollapalooza, Ian chatted with Senior Editor Steven about their show that took place earlier in the day. Ninja was busy talking to another media outlet - the benefit of having a six-member band - so Ian held it down for the group by touching upon what sort of plans they have in store for an upcoming record, who his dream collaboration would be with if he had the choice and how the experience had been for him at this year's Lollapalooza.
