You might not know who Butch Walker is, but you most certainly have heard his work before. A singer-songwriter in his own right, Butch has also had a hand behind the scenes, producing hit pop records for megastars like Avril Lavigne and Pink. But Butch does his own thing on the side, having recorded and released three studio albums and two live records under his own name. But tragedy struck Butch last year when the California wildfires claimed his home and all of his possessions - including his masters and demos - leaving him with nothing to fall back on.
Nothing except music, of course, which he continued to make after taking a brief break to grieve over the loss of his possessions. Butch then headed back into the studio to record his upcoming album Sycamore Meadows, a more contemplated affair that comes in the aftermath of his misfortune. Backstage at Lollapalooza, Butch was in terrific spirits as he discussed his forthcoming album with Senior Editor Steven, discussing the emotional process he went through post-wildfire, his previously released live albums and what sort of production he has in the works for other artists.
