Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Activision

(Wii, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3)

When Aerosmith released their first video game in 1994, Revolution X, it became an instant arcade hit. In the rail-shooter style game, players had to rescue the band from kidnappers by killing everything in sight. It didn't make a whole lot of sense, but when you're an iconic rock band you can get away with stuff like that. Now the group has released a game that is a little more in-tune (no pun intended) with their career. Guitar Hero Aerosmith is a must-have for fans and GH junkies alike.

The gameplay is basically identical to Guitar Hero 3. In Career Mode, you start by playing small gigs and work your way up to the big time by mastering harder and harder songs. Of course, 80% of the songs this time around are Aerosmith songs. The remaining 20% are songs the band chose for their opening acts, which aren't half bad. Hits by The Clash, Joan Jett, and even Run DMC all appear in the game. In Career Mode, you start off by playing Aerosmith's earliest songs in some of the first venues they ever played (Nipmuc High, Max's Kansas City, the Orpheum) all the way up to the Super Bowl Halftime Show and the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. In between songs, there are Behind the Music-style interviews with the band.
