The date was August 28, 1997. I was 13 and head over heels for Taylor Hanson. My best friend Anna and I had won tickets to their private concert at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, where they would be taping a concert and a new music video. Needless to say, I wanted to look hot, but with strict parents and a limited budget I had to put together an outfit with what I had in my closet.
Determined to get one of the brothers' attention, I coordinated my outfit as follows: brand new flare legged L.e.i. jeans, every-shade-of-blue striped baby doll tee, my multiple necklaces, one a cross and the other the Wicca symbol (if you liked Taylor back in the day you know what I am talking about), and my platform concert sneakers (black and white patent leather). Although I was a fashion disaster, I was ready to MMMBop!
