Wow, these Breakdowns sure are getting boring. But you can blame Katy Perry for that, topping the Hot 100 yet again with "I Kissed a Girl." Last week, as well as the week before that and the one before that (you get the picture) she's reigned as the Queen over the rest of her fellow Billboard charters. But that's good for her! As stated in last week's edition of the Breakdown, it's wonderful to see fresh blood on the charts, especially a singer as feisty as Katy is. "Hot 'N Cold" should be coming anytime now, but don't hold your breath for "I Kissed a Girl" to disappear altogether from next week's chart.
The coolest thing about this week's Top-10 is that four of the songs come from two artists. Rihanna and Lil Wayne both have two songs apiece in the top of the charts, with Rihanna taking the lead and Weezy coming up closely behind. Like on last week's chart, Ri-Ri's "Take a Bow" isn't exactly taking a bow, maintaining its grasp on the number 2 spot after weeks of gradually climbing to its current home. But the biggest shock is that "Disturbia," a bonus cut from the repackaged edition of Good Girl Gone Bad, checks in at number 4, soaring up the chart from the number 15 spot it held last week. Not bad at all for Barbados' own R&B vixen.
