Introducing Keri Hilson
Written by: Steven H., Senior Editor – Posted: Tue Jul 15th, 2008

There have been a handful of artists in the past who have successfully made the transition from writers and producers to full-fledged performers and singers. Ne-Yo started out as a songwriter for R&B singers and hip-hop acts as far back as 1999, eventually penning hit songs like Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" and Rihanna's "Unfaithful" before embarking on his own successful solo career. Likewise, The-Dream got his introduction to the music world as a writer, churning out hits like Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Britney's "Me Against the Music" before exploding on the music scene with his smash debut Love Hate in late 2007.

But none of the R&B starlets to come out of producing have been as promising or consistent (not to mention as female) as Keri Hilson. You may not know her name yet, but you most certainly have seen her, whether it was in the video for Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" or as the leading lady in Usher's clip for "Love in this Club." Keri is on her rise to stardom with a smattering of hits under her belt that she penned for other artists, and with her debut album In a Perfect World coming up on the release calendar, she's hyped to be the next big thing in the R&B and pop world.
