This week's Top-10 Billboard singles show that not much has shaken up the normal order of things. The usual suspects are dominating the chart, but who's to say that's a bad thing? There's a diverse gamut of tracks, ranging from hip-hop and R&B acts like Rihanna and Chris Brown to straight up pop performers like Natasha Bedingfield and Miley Cyrus holding it down. Wanna know what Kiwibox thinks of the charts? Let's take a closer look.
Katy Perry has yet another week at number one with her Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco-produced track "I Kissed a Girl." Does it deserve to hang at the top of the charts? Most definitely. That buzzing beat, those controversial lyrics... It almost seemed natural that something like this should have taken the top slot, being that it goes against any wholesome American ideal that exists in our culture. It's funny to think that Katy was once a bible-thumping gospel child, making this single seem a little weird for her first chart-topper. But either way, it's a danceable and fun party starter by a promising young pop star.
