Wizard 101 Exclusive Preview

As the carefree days of summer slowly melt away, many of us are getting anxious for the new school year, and all of joys that it brings: boatloads of homework, social quandaries, and gargantuan textbooks that test that lifetime guarantee of our JanSports. But there's a new school in session, one that doesn't require ScanTrons and #2 pencils. In Wizard 101, you get to enroll in a school where all the classes are all about magic!

As a young wizard at the Ravenwood School, you must learn how use spells, control your magic, and eventually save others from harm. You'll create a customized player based on your own interests and personality. Once you learn about the magic that will help you on your journey, you get to decide which Magic School you want to attend. Choose from one of the three external schools (Fire, Ice, and Storm) or one of the three internal schools (Myth, Life, and Death). Each has their own philosophy and unique spells, and if you choose an external school you'll even get minions to do your bidding.

Since this is a massively multiplayer online game, you'll get to interact with and challenge other plays to duels, or bind together against forces of evil. Most MMO's have mature ratings since anyone can jump in the game and say whatever they want, but Wizard 101 has a secure online environment with a secure chat feature that protects young players. That means there aren't any creeps to worry about, and your parents won't be weirded out by your sudden interest in sorcery.

The free download of the game will be available soon, but right now you can sign up to be a Beta tester on their website.

For more on Wizard 101, check out our exclusive video footage, where we show you how to create a character, cast a spell, and use magic cards to duel with other players.
